The TikTok Creator Rewards Program replaced the old Creator Fund and pays noticeably better — but only for a specific kind of video. If you’ve joined and your earnings look tiny, it’s almost always because of one of the rules below.

Eligibility requirements

To join the Creator Rewards Program you need:

  • At least 10,000 followers
  • At least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
  • To be 18 or older
  • A personal account (not a Business account)
  • To live in a supported country — the list is limited and changes, so check it in the app
  • An account in good standing with no recent Community Guidelines violations

When you’re eligible, you’ll find the program under Profile → menu → TikTok Studio → Monetization (the exact menu path can vary by app version and region).

The 1-minute rule

This is the rule most creators miss: only videos longer than 1 minute earn from Creator Rewards. A 30-second video with 2 million views earns nothing from the program. TikTok designed it this way to push creators toward longer, higher-value content that can carry more ads.

Duets, stitches, ads, and videos that aren’t your original content don’t count either.

What counts as a “qualified view”

You aren’t paid for every view. TikTok counts qualified views, which generally means views that:

  • Come from the For You feed
  • Last long enough to count as genuine viewing (TikTok uses a minimum watch-time threshold)
  • Come from eligible regions
  • Are not fraudulent, paid for or promoted with ads

Views from your profile page, searches, or repeated plays by the same person may count differently. Your Studio dashboard shows how many of your views were qualified.

How much does Creator Rewards pay?

Creator reports in 2026 generally put the rate at roughly $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000 qualified views, with some higher-value niches and audiences reporting more. TikTok calculates your RPM from four factors:

  1. Originality — content you created yourself, not reposts
  2. Play duration — how much of the video people actually watch
  3. Search value — videos people find through TikTok search, which TikTok treats as especially valuable
  4. Audience engagement — likes, comments, shares and follows

That means 1 million qualified views could earn somewhere between about $400 and $1,000 — much more than the same views on YouTube Shorts (see our Shorts monetization guide) but far less than many people expect.

How to earn more from Creator Rewards

1. Plan your videos to be 60–90 seconds

Don’t pad a 20-second idea to 61 seconds — viewers will leave and your play duration score drops. Instead, pick topics that naturally need a minute: stories, tutorials, reviews, “3 mistakes” lists, before-and-after breakdowns.

2. Win the first two seconds

Longer videos need a stronger opening because viewers decide whether to stay almost immediately. A visual pattern interrupt — a fast action shot, a surprise, a bold on-screen question — keeps people watching. A short transitional hook clip cut into your first beat is an easy way to add one.

3. Target search

Use clear, searchable words in your on-screen text, caption and spoken intro (“how to edit Reels in CapCut”, “best budget mic for TikTok”). Search traffic is rewarded and keeps bringing views for months.

4. Keep it original

Reposting clips from other creators, movies or TV can disqualify videos and put your account at risk. Use your own footage or properly licensed clips — our guide on royalty-free vs copyright-free video explains what’s safe.

5. Build a series

Series (“Part 1, Part 2…”) bring people back and increase follows, which boosts engagement signals across all your videos.

FAQ

Can I join Creator Rewards with a Business account?

No. You need a personal account. You can switch account type in settings, but some business features will be lost.

Why are my Creator Rewards earnings so low?

Usually because most videos are under 1 minute, many views come from non-eligible regions, or people leave early. Check qualified views in TikTok Studio.

Do old videos earn money?

Eligible videos can keep earning as long as they keep getting qualified views, which is why searchable evergreen content is so valuable.

Bottom line: Creator Rewards rewards original, searchable videos over one minute that people actually finish. Plan for that from the first frame, and treat the payout as one income stream alongside brand deals and affiliates.
