Talking-to-camera videos build trust faster than almost any other format — but forgetting your lines, saying “um” and filming 20 takes kills your momentum. A teleprompter fixes that. You don’t need an app or expensive glass: our free online teleprompter runs in your browser.
Set it up in 2 minutes
- Open the Teleprompter on a laptop, tablet or second phone.
- Paste your script. Keep sentences short — one idea per line.
- Set the speed (start at 3) and text size so you can read it from where you’ll stand.
- Turn on the 3-second countdown, then press Start or the Space bar.
- Use Full screen for fewer distractions. ↑ and ↓ change the speed while it runs; R restarts.
Where to put the screen
Viewers notice when your eyes drift. Place the scrolling text as close to the camera lens as possible — directly above or beside it. If you film with your phone’s rear camera (usually the sharpest), put the laptop just behind the phone so the text sits right next to the lens.
Using teleprompter glass? Turn on Mirror text so the reflection reads correctly.
Write a script that sounds natural
- Start with the hook. No greeting. Score your opener with the Hook Analyzer.
- Write how you talk. Contractions, short sentences, everyday words.
- Use line breaks as breathing points.
- Check the length with the Script Timer — about 150 words is one minute at a natural pace.
- End with one clear call to action: follow, comment, or save.
Example 30-second script
Stop scrolling — this one setting fixed my blurry Reels.
Most people get this wrong when they upload.
First: export at 1080 by 1920, 30 frames per second.
Second: turn on “upload at highest quality” in your settings.
Third: upload on Wi-Fi, not mobile data.
Try it on your next Reel and tell me the difference.

Tips to sound less robotic
- Read it out loud twice before filming.
- Set the speed slightly slower than feels natural — you can always speed up the edit.
- Don’t read every word perfectly. Use the script as a guide and talk around it.
- Film in short sections and cut them together. Jump cuts are normal on short-form.
FAQ
Can I use the teleprompter on my phone while filming with the same phone?
Most phones can’t show a browser over the camera app. Use a second device — an old phone, tablet or laptop — for the teleprompter.
Is it free?
Yes, the teleprompter is completely free and runs in your browser.
What speed should I use?
Start at 3 and adjust while it runs with the arrow keys until it matches your natural pace.
Bottom line: script your hook, keep sentences short, put the text next to the lens and let it scroll. Try the free teleprompter on your next video.
